ABOUT OUR GUITAR LESSONS
Kingwood Arts Academy provides the Northwest Houston areas with quality acoustic guitar and electric guitar lessons for all ages and skill levels. Our innovative approach creates a fun and welcome atmosphere for students of all ages and abilities to find their passion for playing the guitar. All guitar lessons are taught as private, one-on-one music instruction and are available in lengths of 30 or 60 minutes. Lessons are available to beginners as well as self-taught or experienced students in all different styles such as rock, pop, folk, classical, r&b, jazz, and more. Whatever your goals are, our professional music teachers are here to help you and customize a lesson plan for you.
GUITAR LESSONS FOR BEGINNERS
Our beginner guitar lessons inspire creativity and help develop new students into world-class players with weekly private guitar lessons. Taking lessons at Kingwood Arts Academy does not require any previous experience: just come excited to play and ready to learn! Our beginner guitar students of all ages will learn how to read standard and tab notation, play melodies, chords, and improvise. All students are highly encouraged to bring recordings of their favorite songs, band, or players to learn their favorite songs. Our goal is to foster confidence and creativity in students of all ages through exceptional musical learning. Through the guitar, we foster holistic musical understanding and a true love for music.
GUITAR LESSONS FOR CHILDREN
As popular as the guitar is, it is not the easiest instrument for little fingers. Therefore, we recommend that students be at least 6 years old before starting guitar lessons and that the appropriate size guitar is purchased – either a 1/4, 1/2 or 3/4 nylon string. We strive to make guitar lessons fun and engaging for younger students by adding in games, exercises, and songs suited for young kids. Our lessons are strategically planned to cover all basic guitar techniques, learning some fun popular songs along the way. We teach young folks how to: create good tone, understand and maintain steady beat, play rhythm, hear and follow musical form, and be musically creative! The approach is joyful and accessible.
GUITAR LESSONS FOR ADULTS
Guitar and bass lessons are offered on electric or acoustic instruments. We make it a priority to tailor how we teach and what we teach to your individual needs. Whether you like to jam out to rock, pop, jazz, blues, folk, bluegrass, or any other music, we can make you sound your best. Regardless of your background and goals, our guitar instructors absolutely love working with adults, and they know how to make lessons comfortable and rewarding. Our guitar teachers understand that every student is an individual, with personal musical needs and goals. Teachers can tailor lesson plans around your learning style while teaching songs that you will enjoy learning and practicing at home. Guitar teachers will have the advantage of knowing which songs to choose that are at your skill level.

All of our instructors either hold or are pursuing degrees in music and all have had prior experience teaching music. They are fully aligned with our vision and know how to create the right classroom environment to set up each of our students for success in a fun, inspiring, captivating, and playful way.
FLEXIBLE SCHEDULING AND UNLIMITED MAKE UP LESSONS
Our unparalleled scheduling flexibility is designed to meet the needs of family's busy schedules. We are open 7 days a week all year round (including the summer), and offer unlimited make-up lessons. If you need to cancel your lesson or change your lesson time, we've got you covered! If you're too busy or unable to come in for a make-up lesson, you can request a lesson via Zoom or even request that your teacher create a custom video make-up lesson instead! There are plenty of flexible options for all.
FREE OPTIONAL RECITALS TWO TIMES PER YEAR
Progress equals to happiness. Students and parents can feel progress in a tangible way through our free and optional recitals. Twice a year our students will have the opportunity to put into practice what they have learned and show their talent on stage. There is nothing better than performing live to maximize the wonderful experience of music and take the journey to the next level. Participation is always optional.
NO CONTRACTS OR SEMESTER BASED PROGRAMS
We work on a month-to-month basis. Our students have the flexibility to enroll or withdraw from our private lesson studio at any given point depending on whatever is more convenient for them.

As a result, students learn to eliminate limiting beliefs, and are empowered to overcome the many challenges that arise in this wonderful journey. This also makes our lessons go beyond music education and become lessons for life.

Josan is an excellent teacher, with lots of patience and dedication. He is very focused on having his students understanding the proper technique, so they don’t develop bad habits or incorrect positions on the instrument, while still keeping the lessons very fun and dynamic.
