EARLY CHILDHOOD MUSIC LESSONS
Benefits of Music Education in Early Childhood
Scientific research proves that music education is as pivotal to kids' development as other subjects, such as math, science, or literature. It has been established that children who learn to play a musical instrument early master other skills quickly. Music impacts children's development and improves their social skills. Furthermore, scientists have determined that musical experiences in childhood can quicken brain development, especially in language acquisition and reading skills. At Kingwood Arts Academy, we have tailor-made one-on-one classes and small classes for toddlers and preschoolers.
ABOUT OUR GROUP LESSONS
Age Ranges
We have different levels according to the following age ranges: 1-2 years, 2-3 years, 3-4 years, and 4-5 years. We teach in a playful environment, including dance, singing, and learning musical instruments.
Ages 1-2
Children 1 to 2 years of age will enjoy music classes with their parents, who will actively participate and develop skills to help their toddlers enjoy music while developing their brains. There is a strong connection between rhythm skills and pre-reading abilities in toddlers. Music education also enhances fine motor skills. Toddlers love to dance and move to music, so our classes will include singing, dancing, and clapping to the rhythm of the music. After 1-2 weeks of exposure to a song, your infant will be able to recognize it and distinguish it from a melody not heard before. Also, music classes help strengthen parent-child bonding extraordinarily.
Ages 2-3
Scientific proof shows that children 2 to 3 experience developmental milestones. Toddlers at this age will experience significant social and emotional changes, as well as changes in thinking and learning. They will learn and enjoy simple songs, like Baa Baa Black Sheep and other cultural childhood rhymes. Sometimes, this age is called the terrible twos because children want to be independent. At Kingwood Arts Academy, we will stimulate this impulse by allowing your child to be independent in singing, dancing, and playing an instrument. Full-fledged participation is a core element in our teaching, adding to the toddler’s eagerness to learn. Music and movement are an excellent way of developing physical and mental skills, and we will motivate your child by learning words, patterns, and sounds. As the attention span in a child this age is shorter, our classes will combine quiet and active times. Parents will also participate actively in class.
Ages 3-4
Children 3 to 4 begin a stage called the magic years, a time when their imagination flies. They always ask questions and want to know the reason for everything that surrounds them. At Kingwood Arts Academy, we encourage their creativity through music. We will let your child choose the songs they want to learn, the dances they wish to practice, and the instrument they’d like to learn to play. In small classes, children will be encouraged to interact with each other, and performing to an audience will make them feel more confident. At this level, we will introduce early music concepts and allow creativity to enhance their love for music.
